Polaris History
Est.1956, Polaris is credited as the first maker of production snowmobiles. Edgar Hetteen and Allan Hetteen were partners in Hetteen Hoist and Derrick Shop in Roseau, Minnesota. David Johnson partnered with Allan and Edgar Hetteen, to create a vehicle that could travel through snow. These vehicles' primary use was to make hunting locations more accessible. The employees worked overtime to finish their concept model. After creating it using a grain silo conveyor belt as a track and an old chevy bumper for skis, they had the first snowmachine. They sold it to "Silver Pete", the lumber yard owner, for $465. A second model was created, called the Polaris Sno Traveler. The first machines rolled off the assembly line in Minnesota in 1956. The original models weighed close to 1000 lbs. and moved at a speed of about 20 mph. They came in a two-tone paintjob (white below blue with a strip of chrome trim dividing them).

Polaris Industries Inc. is the largest manufacturer of snowmobiles in the world and the second largest maker of all-terrain vehicles (ATVs), trailing only Honda Motor Co., Ltd. It introduced a line of motorcycles in 1998, but it no longer makes personal watercraft, having exited from that sector in 2004. The company entered into a partnership with and bought a 24 percent stake in the Austrian motorcycle firm KTM Power Sports AG in 2005. Although best known as a snowmobile maker, Polaris now generates only about 14 percent of its revenues from its line of snow machines; ATVs account for fully two-thirds of sales, while motorcycles comprise the firm's fastest growing sector though only about 5 percent of overall sales. The remaining revenues come from the sales of parts, garments, and accessories. Headquartered near Minneapolis, Polaris operates manufacturing facilities in Minnesota, Wisconsin, and Iowa; it sells its products through close to 2,000 North American dealers and a network of five foreign subsidiaries and 40 international distributors that market Polaris products in 126 countries around the world. More than 20 percent of sales are generated outside North America. A pioneering force in the U.S. snowmobile industry, Polaris has since its inception enjoyed a strong reputation for quality and innovation.

Victory Motorcycles consistently beat out the Harley Davidson brand of bikes in quality and serviceability and they're continuing to gain on Harley's market share as the #2-ranked motorcycle company in the world. The new American motorcycle made waves since it appeared on the market years ago, and now diehard Harley riders are turning to Polaris' Victory cruiser bike line to hit the road with style and piece of mind.
The Pied Piper reports Victory has had higher customer satisfaction and lower service time than comparable Harley-Davidson vehicles. Victory is even cornering the markets of Star, Boulevard, Honda, and more in terms of costs to benefits on all of their new models.
Hardly any Victory bike leaves the shop without new pipes or other specialty Victory parts and accessories added on.
Exhaust pipes more than any other product seem to grace the rear end of Victory motorcycles so riders can be the baddest and loudest bikers on the road.
Chrome always makes a motorcycle stand out well. Sometimes even going for specialty, all-black parts can really give a cruiser that dark and imposing look, like what you can find on a Victory 8-BALL™.
Online retailers like Pure Parts Polaris sell these parts and Polaris Industries sells some of the coolest custom cruisers Victory has made, including the limited edition Arlen Ness designed motorcycles.
Arlen, and his son, Corey Ness, made names for themselves as some of the top crafters of motorcycles today, and could be considered the Ed "Big Daddy" Roth team of modern day chopper bikes.
With new models coming out, like the 2012 High Ball™, constantly changing and redefining the motorcycling experience, Victory has come full circle from the little motorcycle company that could.
Today, with annual 2011 sales of over $2 billion, Polaris designs, engineers, manufactures and markets
